If I Don't Walk
Dede Ranahan
If I don't walk what will I do
To make the case for me and you?
If I don't walk the walk in May
When will I walk the talk I say?
If I don't walk where will I be
That changes things for you and me?
If I don't walk to show our cause,
Why should others care or give me pause?
If I don't walk can I complain
When stigma sounds its old refrain?
If I don't walk my doc will scold
“You need to exercise I'm told.”
If I don't walk I'll sit all alone
Chewing low-carb crackers by the phone.
If I don't walk I'll miss the crowd,
The bands, the cheers, the songs out loud!
If I don't walk I'll miss the fun, the jog
And joining hands in sun… or fog.
If I don't walk my voice won't swell,
No one will know I'm strong and well.
If I don't walk who'll be the one
Who shouts “I'm so proud that you're my son!”
If I don't walk who will?
